Weddings, Jelly Fish, and a Baby

It's now 12 days until the wedding. We're under the 2 week mark and we're (finally) doing our pre-marital counselling tonight. Things are under control (only because every night and free moment during the day has been carefully planned by my man and me:).

Friday was an amazing dinner with some great friends of ours.

Saturday was a wedding at 11am in Richmond and a reception at 6pm in Coquitlam. They served a traditional 10 course Chinese buffet. Good thing one of Mike's groomsman's was there so he could be my food translator (born in China, speaks Cantonese). Being the only "white-y" at the table (as they affectionately called me:), I was trying to be discrete about my food questions but by the end I was asking the whole table. They would throw on an accent and tell me what their gramdma used to tell them "It's good for you! Eat it!". Among some of the "delicacies", I ate jellyfish (never again--it was like pickled rubber bands and it took an entire glass of wine to get it down) and shark fin soup (I think that also involed sea cucumber and was the consistency of mucus). On the plus side we also had crab, yummy noodles, plenty of wine, and danced like nobody was watching. All in all, a great time with a fun table.

Yesterday there was a baby shower for my very soon to be sister-in-law and our wee little nephew and I think a good time was had by all. Later, Mike and I headed east and saw our friend Michelle who just got back from India and heads off to Kenya in a few weeks.

So here we sit on the home stretch...the moment Mike and I have been waiting for is nearly here. I'll leave it at that--everything beyond this my "bride brain" tries to write comes out sounding cheesy and cliche.

Cheers!

I missed catching you today... so if you have nothing better to do in the next couple of days ;) stop by. I have you shower gift... no advice though.

You could get Mike to stop by...that could be taken as advice; delegate jobs and then thank them profusely for doing it. Multi tasking at its best... getting the list checked off while making your man feel like a man.
