Floating in Yellow

Noticed it's been a week since I last blogged and thought I should fix that. I'm in sort of a weird place today. It's been good, I just feel like I'm floating in the color yellow. Held a one-on-one interview yesterday and that went well. Today I've had coffee with a friend, chatted on the phone to a man and another friend, have to go do some training soon, then out to dinner with a dear friend, and finishing up the day hanging out with some more dear friends. All whelst sailing through sunshine, buttercups, lemons, starfruit, butter, giraffees, HB2 pencils, and all that is glorious and yellow.

Sunshine, Candlelight, and Oceans

Take that weather man! It's a filthy gorgeous day and you called for rain. It's (kind of) my day off and I awoke to the sunshine sneaking through the blinds of my freshly cleaned room. Yesterday cleaning hit a fever pitch when I developed 3 piles of clothes as I purged my room: put away, put in laundry, and put in trash. That last pile was liberating. It was also liberating to take a poster off the wall that has been up there for 6 or 7 years. Not a monumental moment in my life, just a little liberating, as the crowd chanted "Toss it! Toss it! Toss it!"

Good thing I cleaned because later that night I lit some candles, made some tea, listened to the ocean on this incredible machine I have, and relaxed with a friend. So much goodness. I think from now on I'll live by candlelight and a few softly lit lamps that cast cryptic shadows on the wall. For optimum results, life is best lived in sunshine and candlelight.

Earlier this week Heather and I went kayaking from Belcarra Park to Raccoon Island on Indian Arm and it was fantastic. We ate lunch on Racoon Island and it was there that we met Simon the Seal. As Heather describes him, "Simon dislikes ducks and geese and enjoys it when Lindsey blows him kisses and clucks at him." I can't wait to get back there and visit our seal friend Simon.

The sunshine and the freshly brewed coffee beckon to me and I'm not one for ignoring that much excellence.

Last time I was stalked...

I've now studied-albeit mildly-for a bit of an oral exam later on in the form of a discussion over coffee. And, incase you're wondering, It really is an exam/test of sorts for work to see what I need to brush up on and not to check if any one has made it to the next round. I'm talking terms and concepts and all of that goodness that gives me test anxiety. I think they thought that doing it over coffee might lessen my anxiety but now I just have a new one: crying in public. I know I won't but I'm just a ball of worry in these kinds of situations. And I've also practiced for choir which happens tonight. First time in choir in 7ish years. First time I've practiced for choir on purpose...ever. Now I've hit a bit of a lull in my day and so begins the story of my adventure yesterday...

Maybe I was asking for it. It was St. Patrick's Day. I was not wearing green. Not visibly at least. I was taking a walk through Rocky Point, enjoying God in all His manifest glory in nature and I came to one of the boardwalks with swamp/marsh on one side and some bush on the other. As I walked across I heard something in the bushes and I thought "Oh great, a bear" because they had a sign posted that one was in the area. Instead, I turn around to find a huge coyote stalking me 5-6 feet away. The last time "something" stalked me he sat beside me in Linguistics 101 in the CANL portable, wrote me warped poetry, and showed up a concert creepily and uninvited. Now, coyote's are usual pretty small and scrawny, so when I say huge I mean it looked like a wolf. I've never seen one that big before. I didn't think a coyote would actually try to take on a human but just incase I backed away while staring into it's eyes so it would know that it would have to be latched onto my leg before I was showing fear. There was a moment where we really connected and I realized that he was my spirit guide and should carry an amulet of a coyote around my neck from now on. I'm totally jesting about that last part. What do you take me for?

All in all, it was more magnificent than it was scary. Thus I have survived the wild, once again, mostly unscathed.

Check out my lucky fin guys

All is well-and some spectacular, resplendent, and not the least bit wane-on the westcoastern front. Things in the past few days have ranged from the mundane to the divine. The mundane has consisted mostly of the fact that my sinus infection seems to be breaking up after an entire month and $150 of antibiotics. Thanks for nothing modern medicine.

Heather and I hiked Minnekhada Park on Sunday. That was the cat's meow. We later followed that up with a concert of sorts and then nachos in White Rock. The Adventure Girls struck again on Monday when we took in the splendor of the ocean as we walked around Rocky Point. I scared 2 children and Heather scared 1. It's what we do. We also watch movies like Grizzly Man and laugh histerically throughout while eating curried couscous.

Sunday contained divine happenings. We held a preliminary interview for a position in our inner most circle of friends. It was the 2nd of the weekend, but we'll have to save the other for another time, least I be killed or kicked. The audition was held over brunch and he faired well. There are plans in the works for future endeavors. I hope this one doesn't end up fired. He's aware that not everyone makes it though, and that's an advantage that he has over those that have come before him because, as the Adventure Girls say: "People that hang out with blonde tarts don't hang out with us".

It was a weekend rich with quotes. I've stolen a bunch that Heather's already posted, but that doesn't make them any less valuable:
"This pagan paper is molesting my printer!"
"I'm gonna listen to Crash and take a hot bath"
"Maybe he would look more like a leprechaun"
"Excuse me, I need some more Christian staplers"
"Wow, someone just touched him where he wasn't expecting it"
"Even when he walks, he just looks like he's practicing farting!"
"So is that like a transvestite name?"
(singing)"Cause I pulled a Jonah and got swallowed by a whale"
"Check out my lucky fin guys..."
"And all he had was a guitar to cover his... special place..."

And a couple of my own:
"I'm just going to pick something to hate and get angry at it"
"This just came out of her bum...it's her life...this was just inside of her!" (from Grizzly Man)
"Stop touching my feet!"

Until more adventures creep my way, I bid you all adieu.
